Honor a Loved One with a Veteran's Memorial Brick

Updated: Dec 12, 2022

Memorial Day is a great day to honor a loved one who served in the U.S. military by purchasing a brick for the Derby Area Veteran's Memorial Walk of Freedom in Garrett Park. The 2021 deadline to order a brick for the Derby Area Veteran's Memorial Walk of Freedom is August 1st, and all bricks will be installed by November 11th.

The Derby Area Veteran's Memorial Walk of Freedom at Garrett Park was created in 2011 to honor the brave men and women who have served or are serving in a branch of the United States military. Each branch of the military is represented with a station which includes bricks honoring Derby area veterans. The Memorial Walk of Freedom also includes a tribute to Col. Hans Dethlefsen who received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his brave service in the U.S. Air Force. The bronze sculpture, Patriotic Boy, pays tribute to the spouses and families of military veterans who "kept the home fires burning" while their loved ones were serving the country. Bricks are added to the memorial each fall to honor area veterans.

If you know someone who is or has been a member of the U.S. Military, please consider honoring him/her with a brick at the Derby Area Veteran's Memorial at Garrett Park. For more details about brick orders, you can access the order form under the "Applications" tab on this website.
