The Kermit Daum Science Scholarship was established in 1996 by Mr. Daum’s science teaching associates to honor him for his teaching of the biological sciences in Derby, USD 260. His entire 37-year teaching career was spent in Derby, the last 32 years as Science Department Chair. Although Mr. Daum had opportunities to teach elsewhere, including at the college level, he chose to stay at Derby High School. He was always proud to say he taught at Derby High School because of its reputation as an excellent school and the high quality of the community and its students. Mr. Daum’s family continues to honor his legacy through the awarding of this scholarship.
